Discovering the Map Chamber

I return to Fig’s office to show him the book I found under Hogwarts. He notices the missing pages from the center of the book. He’ll need to examine the contents, hoping for a clue. Meanwhile, though, Headmaster Black has insisted that Fig go to the Ministry and explain Osric’s death. He’ll take the book with him.

(The quest for the book’s missing pages is the only one that varies based on your house. The replayability of this game is high because we all want to see the different house common rooms. Unless you’re a Ravenclaw, as I am in this playthrough, you won’t see the Ravenclaw common room. The way the game leads you into this quest is particular to your house, which is really fun.)

As a Ravenclaw, I’m called to visit Mr. Ollivander in Hogsmeade. A student named Richard Jackdaw stole a treasured family wand years ago. After solving Jackdaw’s puzzle, I find his ghost at the Owlery. The pages I want are of a map that Jackdaw stole from Peeves. Following the map led to Jackdaw’s demise.

(Sorry, Ravenclaw, but your common room is boring.)

As a Slytherin, I’m called to a secret meeting with Headmaster Black’s house elf. He wants to present an heirloom ring to his master, which leads me to discover Jackdaw.

(Under the lake with rumored mermaids swimming outside the window, Slytherin’s common room is gorgeous.)

As a Gryffindor, I help Nearly Headless Nick as he tries (and fails) to get an invite to the Headless Hunt. While there, though, I meet Jackdaw (who is headless).

(No surprise that the Gryffindor common room is a pleasant mash-up of a medieval castle and Victorian comfort.)

As a Hufflepuff, I get the best of the four missions. A former auror takes me to Azkaban to interview a prisoner about her former lover, Jackdaw.

(The Hufflepuff common room is also the best of the four houses. Hobbit doors, warm wood, and plants everywhere. So peaceful and cozy!)

No matter which house I’m from, I’m to meet Richard Jackdaw’s ghost at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. The storylines converge here.

Inside a cave I solve puzzles and battle spiders. The final room, with Jackdaw’s remains on the floor, has stone knights ready to slice off my head, too.

(The precious Ollivander wand lies in splinters.)

After winning the fight, I come upon a huge open room with four empty portrait frames on the wall. Into one walks Professor Rackham.

We discuss our unique magic ability, and then he asks me to place the book on the pedestal. I don’t have it, of course, because Fig took it with him. Come back when you do, Rackham says.

I leave the Map Chamber, as Rackham’s portrait location is called, only to find I’m underneath Hogwarts. I walk out a metal gate and into a storage area.
